  1. NASA sends mission specialists into space all the time. That's because it's easier to train people to be astronauts than to train people to be experts in a particular field.

Astronaut does not equal pilot or mission commander, it just mean person who flew a certain height (and to keep tourists from taking the title apparently they have to serve a function or some such thing). So on this, Armageddon actually got it right.

  2. A small scene in Temple of Doom always bugged me. Why did the 2 pilots sneak past a sleeping Indiana Jones and jump out? Why not throw him, the girl and the kid out and KEEP the plane??

  3. I would argue the Armageddon situation. The drillers would have a ton of titles behind there name. You can't just teach some in a few weeks how to drill especially since they didn't know what the asteroid was made of on the inside

  4. I did not realize Leslie Nielsen's pre-Zucker Bros life included being the Captain of the Poseidon. And I saw the movie. He was a great character actor, and as such did not stand out. Shirley that changed!

  5. Definitely would have included 'rush the fireman's basket' in The Towering Inferno – As satisfying as it was to see Simmons take a 130-story swan dive, he took a lotta people with him XD

  6. Remind me of most people today we live in a world where it's easy to make money online but most of them rather to the old ways until they realize the new way works better That's why Blockbuster is now out of business

  7. Amergedon- they needed only 1-2 Astronauts.. Drilling is hard as well- sometimes shit doesn't go to plan and you need to think fast .. someone who is doing that for most of his adult lifes has better chance then an Astronaut. He can fly and manover the shuttle.. But drilling wouldn't be in his blood..

  8. irwin allen (the master of disaster) had a great bunch of movies in the 70s hokey sure dated maybe but damn they were still good for their time and worth a watch even now

  9. Wrong about Armageddon…mission was to Drill. You need 2 Astronauts per ship to get them there, then get out of the way while the drillers drill. All you have to teach the drillers is how to put on a space suit. Drilling is a science…they didn't have time to teach a pilot how to use a drill rig anymore than they had time to teach a driller how to fly a space shuttle.

  10. Well, this had plenty of material to work with… I grew up in the 70s so I saw all sorts of disaster movies (they really matched the decade) and they're MADE of stupid decisions, lol! Airplane! summed it up… there's always a bunch of different screwed up tropes doing stupid things. I want to see whether you pulled any from The Towering Inferno… that was a mass of dumb choices.

Alright, I've started watching it and I already found a stupid mistake you didn't point out… your narrator just said "New York Public Liberry."

  11. Ebola becomes so quickly visible for even the most of idiots ….. but anyway ….
    You forgot:
    Virus
    The Quiet Earth
The day the earth caught fire
    Day of the Triffids
    Panic in the year zero

  12. saw one film dont want to remember it
a metor shower of larger then normal rocks coming to smack into earth
some US general "lets use stingers to shoot them down"
they arrive so fast it went forward in time one rock passed over LA in broad daylight and arrived at las vegas at night

  13. After seeing the way most people acted during the worst times of the pandemic in 2020/2021, I don't feel anyone has the right to judge any decisions people make in movies, especially one like Outbreak, because in real life people did EXACTLY the opposite of what they were supposed to. And as far as the "Not listening to the expert" ones… Well, there are even PRESIDENTS who not only not listen but also encourage the population to do the same, so, who can blame the movie characters, right?

  14. I’m on the 3rd movie on this list and it’s as if whoever wrote the script for this video didn’t watch two of three movies…they explained their reasoning in Armageddon and the outbreak in Outbreak was contained to one town…it didn’t spread across the country. Which was a major point in the movie.

  15. The ID4 rooftop scene and hearing the LA Police telling them to get their asses down and the people not listening, I'm thinking "yeah that's legit." People would be there yelling fake news at the cops.
