  1. Because I’ve received a lot of comments about this, I’d like to address some errors I made throughout this video.

    1. DK’s debut album is called Fresh FRUIT For Rotting Vegetables, not Fresh FRUITS. This is most likely a case of the Mandela Effect. Considering the album’s name doesn’t appear on the cover, I understand why I’d screw it up, but I still feel kinda embarrassed over that minor screw-up. At least I got the name correct on screen.

    2. East Bay Ray also played a big role in forming the band. It was thanks to East Bay Ray putting out advertisements on guitar stores which Biafra eventually responded to that DK would be formed.

    3. I mispronounced “Marin” in Moon Over Marin. Minor mistake, but one I should still own up to.

Mistakes aside, I’m proud of how this video came out. Dead Kennedys are a band that hold a special place in my heart for very personal reasons, and it brings me great joy seeing this retrospective gaining so much traction. Thanks for the support everyone!

  2. I got the ”Give me Convenience…” album when it came out (i was 12yo), and my life was never the same again. Maybe i was a bit too young to learn how f-ed up this world is at 12, but i rather learn the truth early.

  3. You say the sex pistols were putting out the best against main stream at the time, but I argue that motorhead was at the time and will forever be more influential than the massively overrated and untalented sex pistols who only released one very, very shitty album.

  4. I found Jello's incessant political ramblings to be very boring, so DK fell off my radar. Now that I'm older, I appreciate how intelligent the lyrics were, but the constant bitching is still off-putting.

  5. As a junior in high school who's been a fan of anything hardcore, weird, or just generally going against the grain of pop culture, Dead Kennedys is a band I really connect with. As a musician myself I totally click with their lyrics about the industry, pop, and many other things such as trends and conformity. I hate to sound like one of those annoying "born in the wrong generation" kids but I definitely feel out of touch with a lot of what my peer group is into because it all feels so manufactured to me, and a lot of DK's songs resonate with me for that reason as well. Thanks for the great vid, love the channel!

  6. My life was changed forever on the evening of September 5, 1981 when I saw the Dead Kennedys play at the Florentine Gardens on Hollywood Blvd,, on a Saturday night before the start of my High School senior year the following Monday (and my ears were still ringing from the show). I went on to see them another 14 times before they broke up (the current 'grouping' is merely a bad karaoke act, as there is no DK's without Jello, period) & will treasure those memories until either death or Alzheimers takes them away.

  7. Socialists, their just Socialists, a fan base that sleeps in bunk beds in their grandparents basements because their parents hate them and want them out of their lives. Anarchist because they can't hold down a job, and can't define simple words like women. You can pretend to throw shade at the majority of this country, but in the end you're all just a bunch of frustrated Peter pans that aren't intelligent enough to navigate your own pathetic useless lives. I like DK not the message but the music, because I'm an adult and I'm able to separate the two, unlike every socialist anywhere. This is just more futile propaganda fire wood to help burn Marxist beliefs down to ash.

  8. Pretty good but I gotta say it really hurts your credibility when you repeatedly get the titles of albums and songs wrong. Fresh fruit, not fresh fruits and you mispronounced Marin. Yes I know this is all just anal nitpicky shit but really, how hard is it to get those right? Especially when you literally put the title on the screen and yet still get it wrong. It takes ten seconds to double check that you got names and titles right; again, it's a credibility thing.

  9. That's right the dead Kennedys saved a lot of people litrecy and music 🎵🎶 was rather dull and boring it was the new school related to the athletic club new wave 🌊

  10. I saw a lot of these bands back in the early 80's…Dead Kennedy's, Agent Orange, TSOL, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Surf Punks, and the band I saw that impressed me the most was Killing Joke.

  11. "no junk food just earthly goods. I ate weird berries in the woods. now im seeing colors, I'm getting higher, I think I'll start a …" oh man. smokey the bear is here. knock knocking at my front door.

  12. You should do a video on jello's new band guantanmo bay school of medicine. It's not very punky and the songs are longer but they maintain the political themes and satire that personally, I love
