The Only Written Eye-Witness Account Of Pompeiis Destruction
Spread The Viralist

When Mount Vesuvius erupted on August 24 in the year 79 A.D., it happened so quickly that the people of Pompeii and the surrounding areas had no time to escape. The volcano spewed out clouds of ash, burying terrified residents and preserving their last moments for archeologists to discover later.
Experts have pieced together a fairly accurate picture of what took place on that fateful summer day, but first-hand accounts of what really went down are lacking… except for one. Thanks to a man named Pliny the Younger, we have some insight into the fall of the Roman city: This is the only written eye-witness account of Pompeii’s destruction.

  1. A few years ago they found graffiti of a delivery made to a home for construction supplies (rebuilding after the earthquake damage they think). It was dated October 79… so the date we've used for so long is off by a couple of months. The eruption happened in October 79. It's an amazing discovery.

  2. Sounds like they trusted in gods made by mans hands instead of the true God Creator
Of Heaven Earth the Sea and all things we Take for Granted. But when Death comes No Matter How.! Every Man seeks for the Reality of Lifes Purpose All though that Might be a Little Too Late Because We Do Not All get to know the Date of Our Death.

  3. I went there in 2013…I cannot imagine what those people went through that day and it is scary to see those people frozen in time

  4. Although it was a terrible ancient natural disaster, it has left a window into the world of normal everyday Roman life, something that most accounts from that time would not give us. For example a recent discovery in Pompeii, was a hot food tiled counter belonging to a Roman equivalent of our fast food restaurants and bakeries, with bowls that were heated by fires from below, like our electrically powered heated food cabinets.

  5. I wonder if that could have anything to do with the fact that the Romans enjoyed killing God's chosen people. the Jews. Just 9 years earlier in 70 the Romans did exactly what Jesus prophesied that they would do they destroyed the temple inside out there wasn't one stone that wasn't thrown down and over 1.1 million Jewish people killed by the Romans. Not to mentioned roughly or 40 years earlier they hung his son across Innocent but found guilty. For some reason the Romans are slow to catch on. I would say for at least 5,000 years.

  6. Yeah he laid out in the sun at the beach with all his ladies with sunscreen all over them getting some rays band. And then he turned into He-Man and the Masters of the universe He-Man. Yeah I huge but baby got back.
