Russian forces have claimed that they have full control of the port city of Kherson in Ukraine’s south. Invading troops are also continuing their advance on the capital city Kyiv, with continuing attacks on urban areas. The second-largest city Kharkiv has come under some of the heaviest bombardment. Meanwhile, the United Nations has estimated that more than half a million people have already fled Ukraine. The European Commission is proposing new laws to deal with the mass arrivals. If adopted, Ukrainian refugees would be granted temporary residence permits in all EU member states.

Within a very short period of time in his presidency though the IMF threatened to withhold funding for Ukraine until Zelenskyy earned their trust. On November 17, 2020 Zelenskyy talked with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva by phone.
The most important IMF demand was the independence of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
Zelenskyy stated that “he consistently supported” NBU independence, but in July 2020, he forced Ukraine’s highly respected NBU Chairman Yakiv Smolii to resign. The majority of the NBU board were also forced out.
Zelenskyy then appointed a man from his own circle to be NBU president by the name of Kyrylo Shevchenko.
Surely its just a coincidence that Shevchenko like Zelenskyy both became WEF members as well.
