A trainer once told us the best way to introduce a dog to a new home is a nice walk first. And it’s also the best way to introduce a dog to other dogs, a pack walk. Something about it affords familiarity of sounds and smells of the new area and instills doggie confidence and trust. That’s most likely why after all your time and patience you took with her combined with that walk, she suddenly became a new dog ♥️

No animal is necessarily aggressive, they’re just terrified of what you might do to them based on your abilities, probably because of past trauma. So don’t accuse a dog that bites you (or any animal that attacks) as aggressive. They just want love and will slowly grow onto you.

I know some people think a crate is the worst thing you can do to a dog, but sometimes with rescue dogs you have to meet them on their own terms. Getting my rescue pit a crate was a huge turning point for us. Wherever she was before she met me, I think her crate was the only safe space. Getting her a crate she could retreat to when she got nervous made fer personality just blossom.
