Some people have never had a prepper pantry. My encouragement is for EVERYONE to have one on some level. Always having a backup to get through a hard time.

  1. I enjoy being part of this channel, it is a really friendly little community. I have got a really well stocked pantry and im happy with it. There is probably enough to last us six months quite easily. I have a question though. What ideas can anyone give me for protien? We have a lot of frozen and canned chicken and jars of peanut butter but im not sure what else i can stock long term. Garden is looking great Jerry.

  2. Anyone who reads this comment: at the very least, have a months worth of food and supplies. But I strongly strongly recommend up to 6 months to a years worth or more if you can 🙂
Proverbs 21:20 in the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, a foolish man devours all he has.

  3. Remember 2 is 1 and 1 is none. Try to find like minded people, safety in numbers, train, buy what you eat and eat what you buy. Rotate stock. Learn to grow food, raise chickens and or rabbits.

  4. My family got hit by Hurricane Harvey which flooded our home, then, we were hit by the TEXAS FREEZE in Feb . We are in our late 60’s and late 70 year seniors. Although we are in an Active Senior adult Apt complete, there are still things we have been doing so we NEVER get that desperate again… by the Grace of God. Pay attention folks, and do what you can while you can.

  5. Start small, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Create a rotation no matter how small you start. Take inventory of what you already have and make a list. Watch the sales. Google search how much food is needed for each person in the household per month. Start with one month and build to two. Get a freezer!!! Learn to can but start small. I started with 6lbs of asparagus when I was learning. Bought another 25 lbs for .99 lb. Consider your plan for long term power outage. Small or lg generator depending on income. Save and watch for local area people selling. Store water, over the counter meds and first aid. Don’t forget your pets. Canned food stores for longer than dry. Stay ahead on dried pet food and any prescription meds your family needs. Read books, watch videos and just start! ❤️

  6. Jacksonville Florida gas went up to 2.95 a gallon, my 60 count box of eggs at Walmart 1 month ago 5.08, 2 weeks later 6.29 and just last Saturday 8.49

  7. May I add something when it comes to food prepping and making choices. One if things go south for a long term problem, meaning multiple months. You need to make sure you have food each day that provides the 9 essential amino acids. It's not just about calories. Also multivitamins in your long term preps. Makes sure you are at least getting enough macro, and some micro nutrients. Most multivitamins even contain enough iodine. The reason why I don't worry about have iodized salt. Research on what foods give you all 9 amino acids. Russet potatoes contain all 9. The reason why in history potato's have been so important for survival. Grow a moringa plant in the house. You can move it outside in the summer. That can be added to your meals to help you get all 9 essential amino acids. Really good in biscuits, soups, stew.

  8. We started last summer turning our small backyard into a mini farm. Invest in some chickens 🐓 if your area allows them. Don’t get the cute baby chicks, it will take 6-8 months to get eggs. Check out FB groups and buy full grown hens. Sometimes people give them away for free. You feed them chicken feed and kitchen scraps. We have 6 hens so we get 5-6 eggs per day. Also, Okra is another vegetable that is easy to grow and will yield a lot of produce. If you don’t have seeds, slice a tomato from the store and bury it. I grew a huge Roma plant last year. You can also plant pinto beans from the store right out of the bag.

  9. JERRY, Your garden looks great! Have you come to find that it's also a good stress reducer. I noticed that you have some colored buckets, they say there better since they don't promote algae as much as the white. You should see the experiments I'm doing in some of my buckets I got going. Some I turned into grow buckets with a wicking system, 2 different kinds. Have some pvc in some for watering, others sitting in a small plastic pool with only holes in the bottom sitting on pavers. My weather is more extreme than yours, were already seeing 98% and we got 2 months before the hot months. At least we're out of the drought, we got 5.6 in May when usually it's 1.6 and it was soaking up good. Snow melt is starting to begin, YEA rafting season and we picked up a used sup. I NOTICED YOUR CHARGER RIGHT OFF!

  10. I have finally got my daughter thinking about buying more non food things. More then just a month worth. I have always made her buy more can foods then she wanted to.

  11. It's never to late to start prepping even if you only get one or 2 extra things ever time you go to the store. I've been living off the grid growing and rasing my own food and prepping for years over 10 years now but pretty much my hole life just more the last 10 years. Pretty much every day I forage on the mountain on my property there so many edible plants and things to make medicine. I'm always making a tenture when ediable plants are ready or making salves or something. I try to teach people but getting them to listen can be another story because they don't believe anything is going to happen. If you want to know what plants can be edible there's an app you can download and take a pic if it and it will tell you. I don't ever use it but I have told quite a few people about it. I can tell you a couple food items to add to your preps one is criso you can make candels out if them if you look at the i in crisco it's a candle great thing to have on hand if the power ever goes out just make sure you get wicks and put the crisco in a glass another thing good to have is sugar not just for long term but to make sugardine if you don't know what sugar dine is I would look it up it could save you or someones life one day. You just need benidine to make it. But if you don't have benidine sugar will work. Ok long message Just have alot of knowledge because I've been doing it for so long. Don't know if you have suckers on your tomatoes couldn't tell in your video but if so pick them and your tomatoes will flourish. Take care up the great videos.

  12. Hi! Are there any resources that help with calculating how much ones prep will last? I have a prepper pantry but have no clue how long it will last my family and I? Any help will be much appreciated!

  13. That tornado shook me to the core. I lost my job and my family’s sole source of income at that time as my husband had just started his own business and was not generating a profit yet. Fortunately, we had enough preps, savings and I was lucky enough to have built a good reputation in my field and was offered jobs right away, however I took time to find the right opportunity for me. We were ok because we were solid financially but it could have been so bad if we weren’t so prepared.

I know I will never forget the night of March 2, 2020. I will forever remember being huddled in my bathroom with my family and my dog, the winds howling and news 5 playing on my cell phone, watching the coverage. There was true terror running through me and my husband, trying not to show it for my son. After that I got serious about my prepping more than I had been. I usually always kept a few weeks to a month on hand but now I keep much longer term supplies on hand including freeze dried meals and MRE’s as well as canned ravioli, canned chili, beef stew, some quinoa bowls, things that are shelf stable, already cooked and can be eaten straight out of the can if needed. I also make sure to have about a months worth of bottled water on hand for my family and dog and about 6 months worth of dog food on hand.

  14. Yes even though it's late in the game it's not too late. We've been buying 2 cans of Salmon a week and now have 12 cans. For the 2 of us that's 12 weeks of meals with leftovers of salmon patties. 2 cans were about $5 at Alid's. I belong to a womens christian group and one of our weekly series is $5 weekly prep challenge so you designate $5 a week to buying something that is for your preps. 2 cases of water at Aldi's is $5 you get the idea. I usually do more than that but I have that mindset going in to the stores that I am going to spend $5 on something to add to my preps. I was thinking about the shortages last year of hard to find items and one odd thing I could not find was saltine crackers which we use for our soups of veggie or chili so something to think about what could you not find besides of course toilet paper and water. Save your milk jugs if you don't drink milk ask your neighbors to save them for you and fill them with water. Bleach was another hard to find item it can be used not only for cleaning and disinfecting but also a small amount added to stored water makes it safe to drink… google for the exact amounts. Powdered milk, mac and cheese are good staples to have add a can of tuna to the mac and cheese and you have a meal. Anna In Ohio.

  15. Oh my goodness your cucumbers look wonderful mine are still pretty small but at least they aren't dying. Your tomatoes look great too. Very wise advice. Anna In Ohio.

  16. I may have mentioned I have a facebook group on frugality and one of the topics is Pantrues, Prepping and how it gives us Peace of Mind. I am trying to be gentle with people but some still have not gotten the message
Today I went to a local IGA store it was Tuesday senior discount day everything I bought wss on clearance and except for the baking powder and rolls the rest wss veggies and 7 bananas so only 1 prep item but with a yes by date of 2023 that baking powder is good for a while

  17. Hello NEW PREPPERS!!! Jump on in, the waters fine! The more you prep, the less fear you'll have. Don't live to prep, prep to live. He has live streams on Fridays, come join us. We're not scary!

  18. This is off topic, but I enjoyed the video that your “brother” (“twin brother”?) did. Boy, he is such a non-prepper and will be banging on your door when shtf. You asked if we wanted to see more videos featuring Gary. I vote YES!

  19. When I was at Costco yesterday. They had no canned chicken in the store. They had only a few (like a dozen) packages of oats. Walmart was packed with people. This all in Colorado. Shortages are here, and going to get worse. Again like you said not scare tactics, it's the fact. I just today added 59 more cans of keystone ground beef. I've been focusing more on canned meat, because I know they are trying to demonize it. God bless, and remember the most important preparation is your Bible, and relationship with God.

  20. Man I am jealous. We have no squash yet but we had a lot of male squash blossoms. Ate them up. Didn't know I was a homesteader or prepper until I looked up the definitions. Just always did it

  21. Just starting to rain. My tomatoes are looking good, and my beans have already come up that I planted about a week ago! Looks like your plants are doing really well!

  22. Went to Walmart grocery yesterday in Northern California. Fresh red meat prices were up 50 percent from a month ago. I think I need to look at other places for fresh meat and meat alternatives.

  23. I harvested my potatoes. 2 weeks ago. About 5 of them have gotten soft. Any ideas what I should do to prevent this? I didn't wash them , put them in single layer to dry.

  24. Your veggies look AMAZING!! Thank you for always being so positive and encouraging. I've been getting a little discouraged lately with prepping, but you just gave me the little boost I needed. Thank you.

  25. Prepare also in case you get sick or have an operation and the healing takes longer than usual. I'm speaking from my on experience. It sets you back on prepping. I have not been able to get out and buy extra due to this last operation. Keep up the great work Jerry.
Don't give up get extra when you can.

  26. Jerry, so happy for you with the success of your 1st garden experience! I wasn't able to plant a garden this year, but I did make a run to a u-pick farm this morning and was able to get tomatoes, peppers, squash, zucchini, onions and pickling cucumbers. Hopefully will start canning in the next few days. Thank you for staying down to earth and remembering to encourage the newcomers. Be blessed!

  27. I bought a little travel water filter system. I'm so excited that it just came in!!

I always had a working pantry, now I am just having a bigger one. Adding just another week/month of food to go with it.

  28. Here in the low country of SC we stay prepped for floods, tornados and hurricanes. Only had one ice storm in the last few years that knocked power out statewide for up to a month in some areas. And yes, in the area where I live we sit in an earthquake fault line. So please those that think it can't happen where you live, get out of that mindset. Mother Nature can and at some point will throw you a curve ball. Don't panic, just find the sales and prep for everything.

  29. Wow. That bacon section looks great. Was it a pic from last year?
Out breakfast meats/lunch meats section doesn't look like that.

  30. Every time you leave the store buy 1 can of veggies, 1 can of fruit, 1 can potatoes(sliced, cubed, whole) 1 can meat(chili spam, pork beef chicken fish) That" one basic meal. And build from there. The veggies and potatoes at china mart are still .50 cents a can. Canned soup and instant potatoes added for bulking up the soup, stew, etc.Cans of corned beef hash are still around 1.28 a can.
