Shooting the Everlasting Storm | That’s Amazing

Spread The Viralist

Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela, is the unofficial lightning capital of the world. There, lightning strikes occur, on average, 300 days a year. When dangerous storms approach, most people flee. But 21-year-old Jonas Piontek does just the opposite. The German photographer stays put in the face of certain danger to capture amazing photographs of the electric storms.

  1. I didn´t know this amazing atmospheric phenomenon takes place in my birth country, I don´t live there anymore but I wish If I could have the chance to visit it..! 😁

  2. "They also announce the coming of rain, and thus give glad tidings to the needy.
Yes, this sudden utterance of a miraculous sound by the atmosphere; the filling of the dark sky with the flash and fire of lightning; the setting alight of the clouds that resemble mountains of cotton or pipes bursting with water and snow – these and similar phenomena are like a blow struck on the head of the negligent man whose gaze is directed down at the earth. They tell him:
"Lift up your head, look at the miraculous deeds of the most active and powerful being who wishes to make himself known. In the same way that you are not left to your own devices, so too, these phenomena and events have a master and a purpose. Each of them is caused to fulfil a particular task, and each is employed by a Most Wise Disposer."

  3. Amazing!! I was born in Venezuela in Zulia State, is actually the state where the Catatumbo lighting live, I used to see the lighting from my back yard in Machiques, is something spectacular.

  4. Every night I remember we used to see it from the area I used to live in Grenada 🇬🇩.. always used to wonder why every night that used to happen.. we thought was Trinidad 🇹🇹 because they was south of us… but all the time it was Venezuelan

  6. This was a terrible video, literally 90% of it had nothing to do with the topic, just a bunch of tryhard scenery shots edited by a spastic with ADHD, topped with some pretentious "interview" shots with the photographers who literally have nothing to say. 1/10, I hope ya'll got paid in advance because if I contracted you to tell me about lightning on a lake and you go off for the majority of the time on close up shots of your face and a grand total of 5 shots of the lightning with literally zero explanations and only the speculations of people who have no idea what they're even looking at, I'm not paying you because you did not do the job you were assigned, you made a vlog all about you and your travels, and literally no one cares, I looked up Catatumbo lightning, not weird looking white boy with a weird accent tells me about his life stories.

Don't want to get "cyber bullied" or "harassed" by my opinion? Do the job you were assigned, not the job you think you should be doing, this was a garbage documentary and you have burned your reputation with me and I will remember your odd face, Jonas, and I will never watch another piece of content from you, fix the problem before you lose the rest of your audience.

  7. A great movie plot if anyone is interested/. Photographer is chasing storms and no picture is ever the same right but after 7 years of shooting he discovers some what of a paradox that he has taken an exact picture of the same sheathed pattern and startles him etc etc y’all could fill in the details but this can lead to people in “cloaks” messing with the weather machine or maybe a time paradox movie/ shit maybe he was living as him self 10 years before he even knew it maybe even some Rick and morty shit welp your welcome. And scene

  8. Hello, nice, very nice
One night I filmed a very busy thunderstorm near to me, a lot of stroboscobic lightning in the clouds. But afterwords turned out that a lot of banding was present with my Sony A7s2. On the counterpart my iPhone footage was clear of banding. What would be the best settings for filming thunderstorms at night in order to avoid banding ?
Even some of my pictures showed some banding
    Thank you for any help
