The Aftermath of Disasters

Spread The Viralist

Inside Edition has been there to document what happens in the aftermath of a natural disaster. In the summer of 2005, our cameras were in New Orleans just after Hurricane Katrina struck. Our journalists witnessed what conditions were like inside nursing homes and the famous Superdome. Following the Deep Water Horizon oil spill, we met with caretakers who were cleaning up animals impacted by the disaster.

  1. We have a very fragmented system that never seems to rise up to its challenges when real help is needed during any disaster. This is very tragic that it keeps happening over and over again…

  2. I am definitely going to be CAUTIOUS about the area my parents live in their old age. They WILL NOT live next to a FLOOD ZONE and will not live in a high crime area.

  3. I had no idea it was so extreme! This is incredibly heart breaking stuff to see. I knew people died but the conditions and the fight to survive by so many who were just trapped is insane to see. Where I lived at the time it seemed to be a subject that got washed over.

  4. This was absolute madness directly after. This brought back so many unpleasant memories. My brother was nat guard and had to find bodies and spray those markings. Gangs were also trying to take the streets, it was madness.

  5. I remember hearing about doctors being forced to euthanized patients in the hospital because they couldn't transport them all so they had to decide who lives and dies

  6. The fact that it had the disgusting few who try rape others in this situation when ppl was already in no good frame of mind is sad and I hope they suffer in hell for doing the victims that 4:08
