  4. This country better get smart or you'll lose it to outlaws with very little brain cells. Kid was in his right with Wisconsin law to have a rifle. Don't like it then change the law. Everything else after was self defense. Case closed and shut the f@ck up.

  5. his crocodile tears in court were fake!!!. He didn’t even have any tears when he pretended to be crying, squinting his face like a stupid infant in a crib, as if he was crying. He was just putting on a show and I guess some people including the judge was falling for it. This kid knew what he was doing and he murdered people on purpose to show that he was “powerful. “ Who the heck was it that said that he was trying to help the community? Who the heck was that man that said “he was helping the community”. Help the community by killing other people and now costing tax payers tons of money to go through trials? He needs to be put down just like all the bulldogs when they bite and kill other innocent people. At least dogs don’t have higher thinkings like humans do and he has a brain to think but he decided to kill others instead of just hurting them only for self-defense but I don’t even think that was even “a self-defense”. That was only his excuse to get away with murder!! . He thought he was so powerful having a huge gun in his hands that anybody who said one word, he’s going to kill them and he did it , didn’t he??? A life for a life and he killed two people so guess how many lives he owes so far ??!! And if he’s allowing us a sentence, after he’s done with his sentence, he’s going to go out and continue to kill people and the judge and the jurors who defend that murderer will be blamed! The innocent people’s blood will be in their hands for being lenient for a calculated murderer and potentially serial murderer in the future . Kids nowadays grow up very fast, and much more knowledgeable than adults so it’s not like he’s an innocent little kid. If he knows how to put a show with fake crocodile tears on stage withOUT any tears or running/stuffy nose like when people are truly crying, he’s not an innocent/naive kid! Sentence him as an adult to serve as a example for other kids NOT to kill people, in the future. It has been getting out of hand with kids mass shooting innocent people and this is one of the cases and this shooting spree should be stopped, not perpetuated!!!

  6. These protests laws have to change ASAP!!! There abusing their discretion and resulting to violence!!! Rittenhouse was there for a cause and he was attacke

  8. Many on here are throwing the self defense theme around but if you remember the Jordan Davis "loud music" case, that guy who shot Davis got life even though he tried the "stand your ground" defense.

You should also familiarize yourselves with the actual charges as defined by the statute…self defense does not necessarily apply to all of them.

    COUNT 1

    First-degree reckless homicide

Under Wisconsin law, this crime is defined as recklessly causing the death of another human being under circumstances that show utter disregard for human life. It is not necessary for prosecutors to prove intent to kill. (Charges that are generally known as murder counts in other states are called homicides under Wisconsin law.)

    COUNTS 2 AND 5

    First-degree recklessly endangering safety

The law defines this crime as recklessly endangering another person’s safety under circumstances that show utter disregard for human life.

Mr. Rittenhouse is charged with recklessly endangering two people who, according to the criminal complaint, had shots fired toward them but were not hit: Richard McGinnis and an unknown male seen in video of the episode.

The crime is a class F felony that carries a basic sentence of up to 12 and a half years in prison, a fine of up to $25,000, or both, for each of the two counts.

    COUNT 3

    First-degree intentional homicide

The crime, analogous to first-degree murder in other states, is defined as causing the death of another human being with intent to kill that person or someone else, without the presence of certain mitigating circumstances specified in the law.

Mr. Rittenhouse faces this charge in connection with the fatal shooting of Anthony M. Huber. It is a Class A felony that carries a basic sentence of life in prison.

    COUNT 4

    Attempted first-degree intentional homicide

Attempting to commit first-degree intentional homicide is a Class B felony under Wisconsin law.

Mr. Rittenhouse faces this charge in connection with the shooting of Gaige P. Grosskreutz, who was struck and wounded. It carries a basic sentence of up to 60 years in prison.

    COUNT 6

Possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18

Though Wisconsin is an “open-carry” state where it is legal for adults to carry firearms openly, state law prohibits minors from doing so. Mr. Rittenhouse was 17 at the time of the shooting.

This crime is a Class A misdemeanor that carries a basic sentence of up to nine months in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.

    AGGRAVATING FACTOR

    Use of a dangerous weapon

A provision of Wisconsin law extends the maximum sentence for crimes committed while possessing, using or threatening to use a dangerous weapon. The criminal complaint invokes this provision for all five felony counts; in each case, it could add up to five years to the prison sentence for that count, if Mr. Rittenhouse is convicted.
