Ants vs Termites

The rivalry between ants and termites is probably the most unfair one on our list! Hundreds of the little bugs work together to build their termite mountain home which can reach over 17 feet in height. They could take five years to build their home but it all comes crashing down with a single bout of rain, but these little hard workers fix things up in no time. When it comes to their rivalry with ants though, they’re only seen as a tasty food source, making a group of ants their worst nightmare!

Ants often take over termite mounds to make it their own home, eating up any termite that gets in the way. Termites’ only choice of defense is to stop the invaders but this is a losing battle as the ants are far better at burrowing through holes than termites could ever hope to be. Although sometimes, these little creatures succeed in sealing parts of the nest so that some members of their colony can survive.

Dolphin vs Shark

Sharks are the main predators of dolphins in some parts of the world. Large sharks are often known to prey on dolphins, especially if they’re really young, or sick, as these are the weakest among their group. About one-third of these dolphins have scars covering their bodies from all the shark bites they have to defend themselves against.

Sticking together in pods provides dolphins with safety in numbers, allowing them to defend each other by ramming into and chasing away the sharks that try to prey on their kin. In fact, dolphins are skilled at using their strong snouts to ram into the shark’s belly and cause injuries.
