Me, my gf at the time along with my best friend and his girlfriend were having a cookout at the local state park here in Southern Indiana. We were there all day walking the trails and eating some amazing food (made by me giggity) and as the sun began to set, I noticed that things had gotten awfully quiet around us.
We were in a secluded part of the park with a huge field of grass about waist high to me, I'm 6 foot 3 inches tall btw, but I tried to not pay attention to how quiet the tree's and surrounding area had become. Apparently my best friend noticed this too and began to look around the campsite for any trash we may have missed as we aren't cretins who make messes and leave it. The girls were by my car (1997 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT I called Stormtrooper thanks to it being arctic white with limo tint windows and a huge red hatchet man decal in the back window lol) when my buddy called for me to come and look at something.
So now we're at the edge of this big field/clearing with waist high grass when all of a sudden the grass begins to part like somethings running towards us, so I pulled my .45 handgun from my holster just in case it was a coyote, mountain lion etc. Whatever it was ran all the way to us and when the grass parted, nothing came out.. so we slowly begin walking back to the car when my buddy notices something in the grass looking at us. We bolt back to my car where the girls had already gotten in and as we started to back out of the parking spot when we ALL saw a pair of eyes… But not from the tree line or the middle of the field but EXACTLY where my friend and I had been previously standing.. So I revved my engine to try and scare away the "animal" but we ended up being scared away as when my lights including 2 extra sets of driving lights tried to illuminate whatever it was, all we saw were two yellow eyes floating in between the space where the grass had parted itself. .
Nothing was there except for a pair of eyes looking at us. Nothing was there that could have blocked the creature from our view. It was open space there with two disembodied eyes.. needless to say i put the all wheel drive and mods to good use that day for real..
