MANDATORY ONSCREEN CREDIT – Crime Pays But Botany Doesn’t

An amateur botanist got more than he expected when he took a stroll through the fields and came across an abandoned coyote puppy in desperate need of his help.

Locomotive engineer Joey Santore, 36, likes to unwind by taking a stroll and recording his botany adventures around California.

But on one eventual trip to Siskiyou County on June 23, Joey stumbled across a young, emaciated coyote, desperately trying to run away.

Quickly realising that the pup was all alone and there were no other puppies or parents around, Joey decided to chase after the spooked animal.

  1. Usually moms leave their cubs while they go out and scavenge for food. I tell folks you're usually better off leaving them alone because nine times out ten the mother is off in the distance watching, waiting for you to go away. Same principle applies to deer with fawns.

  2. This coyote actually ended up going into shock and dying the next morning. I honestly cannot tell anymore if people make videos like these for social media attention or to actually HELP the animal. Let's not mix the two. When an animal is obviously sick..it does not need to be in the spotlight. The fact that it "settled" down next to him…was because it was in shock. Let's not project our human feelings and emotions onto animals and use it to rationalize their behavior.

  3. i feel like this video was recorded by a 60 year old retired mafia member who decided to quit the life of crime in order to follow his life long dream of having a bee farm or some impressively anti-mafia member job you can think of.

  4. This clown should stick to plants and leave the animals alone..

Why, you might ask, would you not try to save abandoned coyote pups? The reason is that they are probably not abandoned at all. Coyote pups are left for extended periods of time while both parents go off hunting. In 99% of the cases of puppies found without a parent around, this is what is going on. You will actually be hurting the situation rather than helping by “kidnapping” them from parents who love them and know how to give them the best upbringing. In the wild, and with their parents, they have a huge chance at survival. Once they are removed and placed in a rehabilitation center, their chances go down. The rehabilitation center can take care of their physical needs, but cannot train the pups early on how to fend for themselves: hunt, avoid, interact with other animals.

  5. Your authentic self is refreshing , inspiring. Nothing wrong with your accent. Thank you for your videos. Admirer from Quebec, Canada. Grower of wild and medicinal plants in urban settings✌?✌?✌?✌️

  6. OMG, I just love this guy's personality. Ha, I talk to animals the same way: with swear words and an absurd level of not realizing they don't understand English, lol.
