CHIANG MAI, THAILAND – For breakfast we decided to eat at an extreme street food meat stall known as Laab Yong (ลาบยอง). Get ready for raw meat, blood, and bitter bile for breakfast – and some serious meat sweats! #streetfood #ChiangMai #Thailand
Here are the main dishes we ordered:
Raw beef laab (ลาบเนื้อดิบ)
Beef laab (ลาบเนื้อ)
Saa “sadung” (ซ่าสะดุ้ง)
Grilled pork (หมูย่าง)
Sour soup (ต้มแซ่บ)
Soured grilled pork (จิ้นส้ม)
Pork salad (ซ่าหมู)
Total price – 270 THB ($8.66) for everything
What immediately stands out about Laab Yong (ลาบยอง) is how friendly and hospitable the owners and chefs are, they are so bubbly and talkative. They immediately got started with our order – chatting, laughing, and cooking for us all at the same time.
The food was outstanding, great balance of flavor, spice, and bitter bile. All the dishes are good, but nothing compares to the raw beef laab (ลาบเนื้อดิบ), one of the ultimate of all northern Thai street food dishes!
Nothing like early morning Thai street food and meat sweats!

I love food from SE Asia. It is not for everyone, but if you love it and how you experience the local people It’s amazing. I have lived in Thailand and Bali for a long time and can’t get enough. Now I am teaching them how to grow gardens so they have their own food without relying on tourist and money. It is working with a few but I think it will slowly catch on with more when they see what a great idea it is. I just got turned on to moringa this year. It is food and medicine in one. Just wanna share my feelings….I was hospitalized for 12 days as I was seriously ill due to Covid 19…in times when I was admitted in an isolated room with dead tongue, no smell, major sleeping disorders, zero appetite etc…only the videos and the food experiences tours of this man, Mr.Mark Wiens has kept me ALIVE….and even after returning back to home…I eat my meals watching ur addictive videos… Really wanna thank you and ur team from the bottom of my heart for giving me a reason to live and eat during my worst days of life.

Mann, Mark and Joel have come such a long way. Joel has been helping and film assisting for Mark since day One. Shows how Mark doesn’t let his increase in fame and wealth change him. A lot of youtubers I’ve watched are no longer friends nor partners with their friends they started their channel with obviously because of their increase in fame and wealth. But Mark is literally the same exact person in his first episodes of videos; from when he was less fortunate, to now, as he becomes more well known and well off. He truly cherishes his relationships with his friends/family/food and doesn’t let distractions/temptation disturb him and his life. Only thing changed is his hair, his newly wed wife/first born child. But other than that, his passion for food and his camera man/friend, Joel, remain the exact same from his first ever video to his 1000th video now, literally the exact same passion/small team.
