13. GUYS!!! the reason birds and rodents and things move in that start-stop way is because they are prey animals!! Most predators (eg cats) have vision that relies heavily on movement, so that "very short bursts of movement follwed by stopping" evolved as a way to minimize the amount of time the prey animal in question spends actually moving, making them harder to spot for predators.
