Synopsis :
Cyclones and floods were the major natural hazards in Bangladesh, along with river bank erosion, drought, seasonal storm and tornado. These extreme natural events were termed disasters. It adversely affected the whole environment, included human beings, shelters, or resources essential resources for their livelihoods. In 1997, The Government of Bangladesh established The Standing Order on Disasters (SOD), to build better disaster management and risk reduction for community. Since 2012, the SOD reformed and updated in line with the development on disaster management.
