In August 1977, single parent Margaret Hodgson called police to her rented home in Enfield after two of her four children claimed that furniture was moving and knocking sounds were heard on walls. The children included Peggy, age 13, Janet, age 11, Johnny, age 10 and Billy, age 7. A female police constable saw a chair slide on the floor but couldn’t determine if it moved by itself or was pushed by someone. Later claims included allegedly ic voices, loud noises, thrown rocks and toys, overturned chairs and levitation of children. Reports of further incidents in the house attracted considerable press attention and the story was covered in British newspapers such as the Daily Mail and Daily Mirror, until reports came to an end in 1979.

  1. Lies have been proven to exist . Personal motives have been proven to exist . Hallucinations have been proven to exist . Whats more is that in somecases they have been proven definitively to be behind paranormally accused results and can be reproduced . No such luck with the paranormal . Nothing has ever been proven to be paranormal . The scale of plausiblity rates ANYTHING proven to have been a source of these ends before have preferenttial sastus over anything that has not . If you ignore all of the likelihoods that plausibles represent to insist upon an implausible answer you have a biased and unreasonable position . The facts support an opinion stating this is most likely a fraud far more than any other reasonable opinion .

  2. Ahh the 70's… A time when people believed Uri Geller Actually could move objects and fix things with just using his mind. The Conjuring 2 made this case a whole lot better than what happened in real life. Which to me sounds pretty damn fake.

  3. what always gets me about this case is that it went on for 18 months…i have been possessed a few times in my life and it lasts between between 3 to 8 months…i think the poltergeist thing is when a child becomes a teenager and the energy in the body becomes so intense with frustration and anxiety that it releases a big ball of energy into the environment… this energy bounces around and moves things…it also feeds any ghosts which may be around…

  5. Hey Tim. Thanks for the upload. Listening right now. I've read/watched so much on this very interesting case. Were the Warrens involved? I'll never tell 😉

  6. THE HODGSON FAMILY THAT THIS CONCERNS IS MY FAMILY, I AM THEIR COUSIN, AND IT IS ALL TRUE, THEY HAD TO COME AND STAY WITH MY PARENTS BACK IN THE 70'S, I WASN'T BORN TILL 79 BUT MY PARENTS AND AUNTY TOLD ME AND SHOWED ME ALL THE NEWS PAPER ARTICLES, MY COUSINS WERE VERY UPSET AND DISTRESSED, BUT MR. MAURICE GROSS WAS A LOVELY MAN, HE SAW EVERYTHING WITH HIS OWN EYES, AS DID THE POLICE LADY AND A NUMBER OF OTHER SOURCES, EVEN NEIGHBOURS EXPERIENCED PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, AND THE LOCAL LOLLIPOP LADY WITNESSED OUR JANET LEVITATING IN THE FRONT BEDROOM

  7. I have always found the Enfield case very interesting as my family and I experienced something very similar to it from August 1969 to June 1978. I was a child at the time and we heard things that simply defied rational explanation, though I never spoke in a gruff voice like Janet did and I didn't levitate. We often heard footsteps in the big bedroom when we would all be down stairs watching television. There was some sightings though this was very rare indeed ! It was nothing like the films that make it look more scary than it really is.

  8. Hello there I really enjoyed your video and wonder whether you might like to check out some of my work on the Carrion Films channel. We're currently filming an animated documentary about Borley Rectory. If you care to support us by subscribing that would be fantastic!

  9. I love Kieron O' Keefe but I don't think him doing Most Haunted did him any favours. I'd be curious to ask him about that. I mean everyone knows Yvette and her crew faked so much stuff…Derek Acora, cmon!?!? I love the videos on YT that catch them out faking….

  10. wasn't there a  conjuring movie based in the US (1970s), where an entity takes over the mother and that hippie paranormal investigative couple does a exorcism bcuz the priest cannot get there on time?  i cd be thinking of a different movie, so my bad if I'm wrong.

  11. I grew up in Enfield at the time. The story was well known to all there. Fortunately the financial troubles the family were experiencing were well known and their claims were widely met with scepticism even amongst us kids though none of us or our parents would ever walk past the house or even go near Green Street….My parents were very active Catholics (at Our Lady's) and when they and the Catholic community offered their help to go and pray in the house and with the children, they were refused over and over……

  12. I still haven't gotten past the first 25 minutes of this movie … maybe I'll be able to after watching this. Hopefully …
I'm 'ascared' (yeah I said it), of terror films

  13. I believe those photos of her supposedly levitating are without a doubt fake, it definitely looks like she's jumping.  I believe that the other phenomena happened but not the levitating.
