Today my wife is trying out her new mountain bike on her bike commute to work for the first time. Although she’s a daily bike commuter on her road bike and she’s had this new bike for a while now, this is her first time using it on her commute.
Because the bike was still brand new, she didn’t want to use it on her commute at first, but after trying the MTB on her commute compared to the road bike, I think she’s a big fan now.
I also made a video talking about commuting on MTB

Thuong is such a trooper for doing this commute almost daily for 5 years. I think she really liked doing it on the MTB compared to the road bike too 🙂

Just ran across your vlog and thought it was very interesting. I too bike everywhere here in Utah, USA. So how many miles did you do on the way home? If you dont mind, I'd like to follow you two and your bike and life journey…???♂️
Your wife tires, because of new bike, maybe when her body ajust to bike, new muscle.Riding every day keeps muscle
torn, need rest to build muscle. It happen to me, 1 day ride,1 day rest if possible. One time,I road every day till I have forgotten how to walk.Well my walking muscle's forgot.Key word here, recovery.
One thing you get from doing what seem to anybody like boring and tiring, commuting to work and back home make's your body more immune to sickness, doing this make's your body conditioned, and changes in the environment does not have much impact on you, after the eruption of Taal volcano here in the Philippines i ride my bike to work which is only 19km from the volcano with the ash and rocks and almost zero visibility, with respirator, goggles, gloves, and arm warmers, i go to work and back home without even a cold.
Ahhhh!! I went to NUFS 10 years ago, this brings back memories of me riding bikes in that area.
hey man, just a tip: some people like to see some part of the bike (the handlebars) in the shot as you ride. For some reason, I tend not to want to watch vids where all i can see is the scenery outisde. I doubt I'm the only one who's weird like that. Point is, you could be missing out on views.
"Watch and immerse yourself in Japan". All the videos you make do that for me. Pulls hard on the nostalgia strings too. Thankyou so much. I am encouraged to try and make a little video of my own excursions.
2:38 Stop sign?
Please next video talk about your camera setup while riding the bicycle.
Love your video's…all the way from San Diego, Ca. …ps: Beautiful wife!
Mud guards would be nice for the raining season.
Love your video,, love the sunset,, more bike ride videos pease
I
Thuong-chan looks so happy with her new bike! 🙂
Riding in the dark may not be as video-friendly but it's still lovely imo. In my old job I'd do both my rides in the dark during the winter, it was always very peaceful (albeit a bit cold). Now my ride is considerably shorter so I get to ride with daylight through the year (mostly so now that it's still summer for me here).
I love commuting on a hardtail. I feel like a kid trying to jump every curb and gap around town. Definitely makes the commute more fun than my road bike, but so much more tiring.
I don't see any litter on the streets. It is so clean and nice.
Love it! Keep this going, thanks
So unnerving watching her ride on the wrong side of the road!
Great video! I live in Wisconsin USA and getting close to spring riding to work. I live in a smaller town and cars are not my main dangers. I have deer and fox that cross the road at night on the ride home.My ride is 2 miles.
The road 0_0 oh god i wish all roads like that
Thanks for the nice video , and looks like great weather. Are Porsche expensive in Japan ? just curious.
Nice area sir… Kreep uploading sir,..
Her bike looks so comfortable & fun, proves Good choice.
You guys should have bells! Always nice to see pretty women on bikes.
Can someone explain why using bike bell is prohibited in Japan?
Before your videos I didn’t know anything about commuting in Japan. Now it feels as if I have cycled in Japan. Thank you both ?
“Is that your coworker?”
“No, just another cyclist”
Exactly Thuong. I wave at other cyclists too.
Loved the big wave to a fellow cyclist
On that silky smooth roads ? Nothing more then 25mm high class road tire is needed. That still can be with upright flat bar comfy position. I really hate modern mtbs. They are so .. not right. That Q-factor is 50mm more then needed and really hurts the knees
Nice…ride safe everyday
Great that she has been doing it for 5 years.
Here in Austria it is compulsory to have lights , front and back, reflectors on front, back, pedals and on the wheels .
I have a Lezyne 500ml for the front and a Lezyne Pro back light. I also have some cheaper Sigma round sets.
Is that a Corona virus mask she's wearing? Her company sucks not allowing national holidays. Can't she get a better job?
@ 3:32 looked like someone almost crashed into your left hand side.
ZIKAAA… wait, which one are we on now?
Good job on the video, very entertaining. Your wife is really funny.
screw riding in traffic like that….
Very enjoyable, especially the dialogue
You are strong cyclist, it’s a good commute, the roads are good, a lot better than the roads in London, UK.
Good use of hand signals at times.
It looks like Japan hasn't adopted the American invention of speed bumps.
my sister who's working in japan as a caregiver also commutes everyday by mamachari bike hehe
thats why i always enjoy your vids
Such smooth roads in Japan. Cycling here in London, you have to wiggle your way through the pot holes without going under the wheels of a truck!
Where are your flashing lights? You should run them day and night when riding.
