Top 10 AMAZING Animal Rescues Caught On Tape

It happens that sometimes animals get caught up in a not-so-nice situation – the kind of predicament in which they’re staring directly in death’s face.
Luckily, humans have stepped in more than one occasion to steer the animals to safety – and sometimes these incredible moments were caught on camera. Today, we bring you 10 of these rescues that will restore your faith in humanity.
Don’t forget to tell us which of these you think is the most daring. Will you attempt such? Sound off in the comments below.
Here we go.
#10 Dolphin
We humans have a way with pretty much all animals thanks to our remarkable intelligence – at least for most. For instance, we can capture a good deal of aquatic animals and turn them into food.
But in doing this, a lot of unintended casualties abound – and a dolphin off the coast of Hawaii might have been one.
On the night of January 11, 2013, a group of divers was out in the water in Kona, Hawaii apparently to view manta rays. But instead of the rays, they bumped into a distressed dolphin that came swimming towards them.
But the theatrics were far from this.
The bottlenose dolphin also squealed loudly and pushed into one of the divers, actions the group took to mean a call for help. And clearly, it needed all the help it could get.
The mammal had got caught on a fishing line.
Immediately, one of the divers got down to free the animal. The dolphin remained calm as the fishing line was removed before it took a short trip to the surface – understandably to get some air. It came back later and kept it cool as the hook was pulled out.
After the whole process was over, the dolphin swam away, probably happy with the diver’s help.
#9 Wallaby
In 2018, a wallaby was found stranded about 50 meters from the shore in Sydney Harbour Bridge. It was having a hard time kicking against the water. So naturally, it was only a matter of time before it gave up its quest to stay alive.
But this didn’t happen all thanks to a woman who spotted the struggling animal. She immediately alerted wildlife rescuers who swung into action right away. Initial efforts by a ferry crew member involved throwing a life ring at the wallaby but this didn’t work out.
They resorted to using a rope instead. The Manly Ferry crew threw a rope in front of the animal, effectively catching it in the loop. They then proceeded to use a boat hook to hold the animal’s tail. From that point, they simply pulled the wallaby out of the water.
And being shaken as it was, a Sydney Wildlife rescue volunteer, Joseph Battaglia, came onboard to calm the wallaby down. There was also another onlooker who was kind enough to provide a much-needed towel for the animal.
The wallaby didn’t just face the threat of drowning. It was directly on the path of other boats and ferries. Glad it was rescued – and there was someone to preserve the moment forever on a video.
#8 Dog
We bet you’ll do everything in your power to save one of these furry friends. And that’s exactly what the Wausau Police and Wausau Fire Department did in December 2019.
The dog had fallen into the frozen Wisconsin River and was on the verge of disappearing forever. But the two aforementioned departments turned up just in time at the Riverside Park to pull Daisy, the dog, to safety. A body camera attached to one of the rescuing team members offered a glimpse of the whole operation.
It wasn’t all peaches and cream for the dog. As per the body cam clip, the dog loses her grip on the sheet of ice along the way. This will have meant ultimate demise had the dog tumbled to a crash below. But it turns out the will to live was quite strong as Daisy quickly regained her hold on the ice.
The fire department’s approach could have contributed to the success of the operation. According to the SAFER Fire Department Battalion Chief John Lauer, they follow just the same similar steps in both animal and human rescues.
Caution is always on the owners to make sure they don’t go after their pets which will mean an additional rescue for the department to handle.
#7 Rabbit
Wildfires wreak as much havoc on animals as they do to us. And those that hit California in 2017 were no different. Over 40 people and countless animals lost their lives. Additionally, the wildfires are the costliest to date with damages valued at $18 billion.
But amidst this grim orange surrounding, something incredible happened – a wild rabbit that was moments away from being roasted was saved from the ordeal. And the whole act was captured on camera.
But the task was in no way a walk in the park for the then 21-year old Caleb Wadman.
The bunny was naturally not going to let him grab it easily. It ran away from him into the raging fire.
