At age two, Jake Barnett was diagnosed with autism and his future was unclear. Now at age 13, Jake is a college sophomore and a math and science prodigy. Jake says his autism is key to his success. Morley Safer reports.

  1. I think I would be a genius too if I had his memory. I've been through differential equations and plenty of engineering courses. The problem is you forget so much of what you learn once the term is over. I do think memory is the key thing here. They say it's his drive but most students can stay motivated if they're learning. It's when you forget what you study that you get frustrated and lose motivation.

  2. what no one seems to understand is this. this child has achieved the alpha brain function. soon the alpha brains will remove the alpha bodies.

  3. Me: math and science don't exist in my life in grade school and high-school days and i always flunk in these 2 subjects. And him this is an amazing experience and I am very proud of him and in awe. Wow!!!

    My Grandma: go to your room and study your math and science or else you can't go out with your friends or your cp will be confiscated.

    Me: WTF!!!!

  4. Who cares about these dumb prodigies. They can't do or use anything, they just make the stuff. I'd rather know someone who is a jack of all trades than one of these autists in college.
