Drawn and Quartered Music Video - Spoken Word Poetry with Music by Artist M.D.
Spread The Viralist

This is the sixth music video from the album “Moonshine” by Artist M.D.. Spoken word poetry with music.

Addiction is all around us. I think in a way every human is an addict. We are all addicted to sin, but it shows up differently in each person’s life. It can be drugs or alcohol or food or approval or recognition or sex or work or social media or tobacco or even video games. This poem is not about a particular addiction, but is instead about the addicted soul and its search for healing and wholeness.

Being “Drawn and Quartered” was a torture method where a person was dragged by a horse and hung to near death then split into 4 parts, sometimes by having their 4 limbs tied to 4 horses that were then whipped to run in 4 different directions. As I was writing this poem and feeling out my soul in addiction, that was the image that came to mind.

The poem begins with the feeling of being “drawn and quartered” by competing addictions and impulses. It ends with understanding what Jesus’ holes means for mine and realizing that His answer to overcoming addiction is not to try harder but to surrender to His leading and power.

  1. This is hands down my favorite track on this album! You have a gift for expressing deep realities of humanity combined profound spiritual truths in intricately crafted poetry!

  2. My favorite part of the video is before you admit you cant on your own you had a black shirt. But after you trusted and fell back your shirt turned white like salvation. And then the huge smile afterwards.
