A shark has been filmed beaching itself on the rocks after leaping out of the water just feet from tourists.

The startling scenes were filmed on the Brazilian island of Fernando de Noronha by shocked tourist guide Carlos Dino.
While thrashing on the rocks, the apex predator feasts on a shoal of sardines.

In the clip, the giant shark, which species is yet to be confirmed, attempts to get back into the water by shaking its body.

The shoal of sardines disturbs the water’s surface as they leap out of the water.

Carlos said: “I was on top of the rock between Baia dos Porcos and Cacimba do Padres when I recorded it.
“The shoal of sardines was very big and the shark was feeding.”

As the camera pans to the huge numbers of sardines in the shallows, a group of tourists grab them from the sand.

Carlos said that after returning to the sea the shark tried to return to the rocks but ended up eating the fish in the water.

He said he was accompanied by a group of tourists who managed to catch some of the sardines from the sand.

In 2001, UNESCO designated Fernando de Noronha as a World Heritage Site because of the importance of its environment.

Only days ago, a great white shark hunted a goliath ocean fish in a shocking battle of the beasts.

The clip captured the apex predator wrestling the goliath grouper fish in the middle of the ocean as a shocked fisherman watched on.
