When PETA first found Koa the pig, he had been suffering for almost a week with gashes all over his body as well as a deep wound crawling with maggots. He had been beaten with a crowbar and left to die. Koa had been so terrified that he ran into the woods—where a search party found him the next morning and rushed him into emergency surgery. His injuries were so severe that surgeons had to remove one of his ears, and he almost lost an eye. Fortunately, Koa—whose name means “warrior” in Hawaiian—pulled through. After spending a few weeks in intensive care at the hospital and then resting at a nearby animal sanctuary, he was ready to move in with his new family.

  1. It breaks my heart to see what happens to these animals given human's foul sin nature. Heck, we do way worse to our own kind on the basis of feeble meaningless difference. These animals never truly left the garden of Eden, metaphorically speaking and are pure of heart. Besides, if they make good pets, then they deserve love. If they are also prey animals then they deserve respect to because we are to provide symbiosis for each other to be good stewards for God's green earth, rather than be parasitical.

  2. People who abuse animals are the biggest scum on the planet! This pig deserves a great family until he is big and fat so he can be sent to the processing plant and cut up into tasty little strips for all to enjoy in our breakfast sandwiches.

  3. I wish people wouldn't abuse animals, makes me cry when I see it happen, glad this pig got a happy life, please see more animals get loving happy homes they in need of, Peta.

  4. We also got a "mini-pig" from Texas Tiny Pigs; our boy is now 120 lbs. He was not sociailzed, so we had to work with him. Before you get a pig, know what you are in for! They live around 20 years with proper care. Unless you starve them, they will not remain tiny! They need to be house trained like a dog, but they learn fast! They have their own personalities. Ours is like having a cat; loving, but on his terms. We still wouldn't trade him for anything. We love him and will take care of him for the rest of his days.

  5. Why am I crying? I thought I didn't have enough emotions. But in under 2 minutes, I came from clicking on a video thinking that I wouldn't cry, to having a tear on my right cheek. Pigs deserve to be happy. All animals deserve to be happy.
