Hal the puppy is a 5 month old Golden Retriever puppy that was bought from a breeder then returned to the shelter when his owner could not figure out why he was sick. Marley’s Mutts stepped in to help. At first they thought he had Parvo but it turned out he had a bad case of pneumonia. Hal short for Jalapeno had pneumonia due to Megaesophagus. Megaesophagus is a generalized enlargement of the esophagus with a decreased to absent motility and is really hard for dogs because gravity is not working in their favor. To survive dogs like Hal that have Megaesophagus need a special chair called a Bailey’s Chair that helps them eat.
I am excited to announce that Hal will be our next Dog’s Day Out candidate and we are going to meet him for the first time at the launch of Marley’s Mutts coming to Los Angeles. Marley’s Mutts is launching their Los Angele division and they need fosters, volunteers, etc. We are hosting adoptions at my stores The Dog Bakery so come by in you live in the Los Angeles area.
