Stay off the tracks - don't take a short cut to death
Spread The Viralist

In 2016, there were 32 incidents in which drivers on Ireland’s rail network had to hit the brakes to avoid colliding with a trespasser, including one shown in this video.

Any one of these could have resulted in a tragic and needless death or catastrophic injuries, as could the incidents of trespass in Kilbarrack Station shown in this video.

Trains take considerable distances to come to a halt, even at moderate speeds, and a train cannot swerve to avoid a stricken trespasser.

Railway lines are a dangerous environment – don’t trespass: it could be a short cut to death.

  1. Not sure what the set up of the station/town is here but I would suggest there's a problem if this many people are doing this. There's clearly a demand for a bridge or subway

  2. BUILD AN OVERPASS IT'S OBVIOUSLY NEEDED PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO RISK THEIR LIVES FOR THE AMOUNT OF TIME THEY SAVE BY HOPPING THE TRACKS HERE.. PASS THE BUCK IT'S THE PEDESTRIANS FAULT.. NO IT'S THE TRAIN COMPANY'S RESPONSIBILITY TO THE PUBLIC.

  3. Iarnrod Eireann. FIX THE DAMN ELEVATORS! I know of at least one station nearby where any wheelchair bound or infirm passenger would probably have to cross the tracks.

  4. In towns like Wexford the trains go down the main quays in the middle of the town with no walls surrounding it, the train goes jogging speed. No ones ever been injured there i don't think. Just follow that precedent.

  5. I get when people comment 'a train is hard to miss just be careful' that's true but some people can't guess how fast a train is going when it's coming. So when they see a train coming it doesn't look like it's going very fast until they cross the rails…

  6. People cross roads all the time, nothing wrong with crossing railways as long as you do it when no trains are coming. If you do get killed by a train then you must be really stupid, natural selection at its finest.

  7. Why is it that most media coming out of Ireland looks like low production/low quality shit?
It's like the rest world is in 2017 while Ireland has just discovered the internet.

  8. why don't you's do something about it. Put up a fence or a sign post at least ffs or build a bridge.. far better then putting it on the internet hoping people will see it. Do something in reality!!!

  9. This is a breathtaking example of corporate negligence. You build your platforms with ramps at the end, practically inviting people to cross. You have a complete lack of barriers and warning signs. You have no markings on the ground to keep people away. Then you point your security cameras at the area to catch the inevitable? This crossing is an accident waiting to happen and it would serve you better to secure the area with barriers and sineage and keep your passengers and the public safe. It is nowhere near good enough to record people putting their lives at risk, at your invitation, and waiting to capture it on camera. The footage only serves as a damning indictment of your H&S failings.

Secure this area before you kill someone…

  10. stop saying build a bridge I live beside this train station and there is a bridge but ppl are 2 lazy to use it
