LYNWOOD – One person was killed and a second critically injured after the driver, travelling at a very high rate of speed lost control, rolled the car which then crashed broadside into a wrought iron fence, wrapping the car around a pole and trapping both. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and it took LA County firefighters along with a USAR unit more than an hour to free the second victim who was then taken to the trauma center at St Francis just down the street. LA County Sheriff is investigating the cause.

  1. Firefighters are a great group of guys and they do their jobs very well. I just wish they didn't have to do it so often, but they certainly keep in practice that way, although it has to be hard for them at times, in some of the worst awful fatal crashes. Bless them all, as well as all first responders everywhere! They are invaluable, and they save a lot of lives!
(Having worked in the ER for many years, we have treated a few of these gallant men who have been injured doing what they do so well. It can be dangerous for them, but they just plod on rescuing people and giving them a chance to live if at all possible!

  2. these days more than half of drivers go 20 miles or more faster than the posted speed limit on freeways like where ever their going they have to be there first! WHY? and most of them are the 25 or less year olds who somehow think they are in a movie and have to get right behind you and and at top speed try to pass you and weave around other cars just to get to the red light first! WHY? because they are idiots! and many times there IS NO. law enforcement to take care of this dangerous behavoir! Now why can't there be speed cameras posted along freeways to catch these speeders that put everybody else in danger? The revenue would be huge! Some police choose to stay off the freeways because it would be to dangerous for them to be out there issueing tickets so they do the side streets and issue tickets for 5 miles over speed limit.

  3. Not all firefighters deal daily with tragedy and death. Firefighters delivered my baby 38yr ago. I'm was ever so grateful. A few of them even came to the hospital to visit me and came to the baby's christening. It was a refreshing change from car crashes and fires.

  4. His parents better pay for the fence!? Dont drink, speed or text while driving fools! You want to do it, do it while you're ALONE in the car!?

  5. People don't realize just how close they are to death every time they get in there cars, some day i pray cars will be much more safe, but for now say a prayer before you put the key in.

  6. I had the pure privileged of becoming a Paramedic in 1981 and I spent a lot of time with the Fire Dept, and yes OH YHANK GOD WE HAVE THE Firedept, much respect, you will not find a better group of individuals

  7. Honestly that was the first time in my life that I watched such a traumatic accident and actually got to witness the brave firefighters and the police officers come together using the jaws of life to save these people's lives it was truly amazing it gave me chills thank God for those brave men and women and I hope those people make a full recovery I'll say a prayer

  8. Did they both die?? I assume they did since the paramedics were not there and they pulled one guy out without any medical care just a neck brace which is confusing.
