Kelsey Pollack was working as a contractor for the South Florida Water Management District when she was bitten by a 4-5ft alligator at the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. But despite the near deadly encounter, Pollack wants the public to redirect their attention to why she was navigating their habitat in the first place. She intends to continue the conservation projects, even if it means wading through the same dark waters, tucked just west of Boynton Beach and south of Wellington.
