6. This was great work…back in the day. CPR and the indications for performing it have changed somewhat since this video was originally shown. Whilst any attempt by anyone at CPR is better than no attempt at all, from an instructional point of view this video does not indicate what is taught today.

9. Very informative video. In gasping due to respiratory arrest,
   
   1. Once the gasping respirations have begun and stopped, does it mean that cardiac arrest has already occured?
   
   2. Will the gasping person be conscious during or after gasping?

15. You can tell this is an old video, the CPR guidelines have changed so much! Now days you do compressions to the beat of “Staying Alive”

16. It is a beautiful story to see but at the same time it is great way to show you agonal gasps or agonal breathing in medical education. Agonal breathing is hard to judge even by doctors.
    Taka, you did great coming back to this world! And Bondi guys! You all are true heroes!

22. You can tell this is an old video as CPR training in Aus has changed a lot since this. If someone isn't breathing we start compressions straight away now. Too many people were dying from someone looking for a pulse that wasn't there.

23. Bondi Beach must be the most dangerous place in the world! It seems there are always people drowning, being eaten by sharks or having anaphylactic shock!

26. Notice how blue his face is! That shows a lack of oxygen in his blood stream! And he's gasping in what we call agonal breathing, which is irregular, gasping breaths often seen during cardiac arrest. It is the body's reflex reaction when not enough oxygen is getting into the lungs. In most cases, rescuers will see victims take these gasping breaths every five to six seconds. Agonal respirations do NOT provide adequate oxygen to the body and should be considered the same as no breathing at all. They may still have a pulse but that will soon deteriorate if oxygen is not given immediately and they could die.

30. Man that guy was dead to the world those Lifeguards brought him back from the abyss to the boneheads saying this and that this was the correct protocol over a decade ago since then things have changed.
