8. BATMAN OF MOSCOW
Moscow’s Batman wasn’t the first person to impersonate the caped crusader, but he may deserve the title as the toughest – or, perhaps, the craziest. I don’t know, I’ll tell you, and then you can decide! In 2016, the mysterious man, who called himself the Grim Reaper (so, not Batman), declared war on Russian drug lords and gangs in the Khimki area outside of Moscow.

7. THE DARK GUARDIAN
By day, Staten Islander Chris Pollack is a professional martial artist and instructor, but for over a decade, he moonlighted as the Dark Guardian, a real-life superhero in a homemade black and red leather costume, intent on taking on the Big Apple’s seedy underworld.

6. CRIMSON FIST & META DATA
This husband-and-wife crime-fighting team, who called themselves the Crimson Fist and Meta Data, began patrolling the streets of Atlanta’s Castleberry Hill neighborhood together in 2006. Wearing masks and bodysuits, the couple spent more than seven years cleaning up the community by picking up litter, confronting petty criminals, and helping those in need.

5. NYX
Chris Pollack isn’t the only New Yorker concerned with keeping his beloved city’s streets safe. Instead of focusing on fighting crime, however, this superhero concentrated on assisting the homeless and making the community a better place in general.

4. THE STATESMAN
Mild-mannered British banker Scott Cooke spent four nights a week as the Statesman, dressed in a Union Jack shirt and a Zorro-like mask, and keeping a lookout on the streets of Birmingham, England. The Statesman kept his identity hidden for a long time, even telling his girlfriend that he was out playing poker when he was actually on patrol.

3. PHOENIX JONES
When crime appeared to be on the rise in his Seattle neighborhood, MMA fighter Ben Fodor became Phoenix Jones, a superhero who wore a bulletproof vest with stab-proof plates and carried a collection of non-lethal weapons for protection. His first outing didn’t go as planned – he pursued a mugger who got away.

2. GEIST
Safety patrols and charity events are the name of this superhero’s game. Geist operates out of Rochester, Minnesota and rose to stardom as one of the key spokespersons of the real-life superhero movement. Wearing a costume he describes as “green space-cowboy chic,” he loves visiting kids at the local Ronald McDonald House and telling them all about his adventures as a superhero.

1. THANATOS
One Vancouver, British Columbia man was inspired to become a superhero after a conversation with a police officer, who said that homeless people “had nothing better to look forward to than

  1. Great video, girl. I hope that the ones you spoke of, get to see it…. especially the ones that didn't think they made a difference. .. You DID…. thank you.
As for the superhero I witnessed in life…. my grandfather. He lead an infantry in WW II… with the reluctant notches in his belt of rescuing a green town back from the nazi forces… the battle of the bulge… and many other amazing things.
… what made this most amazing was that, through the power of prayer and the hand of God being upon him…. in around 3 years wrapped up in all that mess… with all that death surrounding them…. NOT A SINGLE MAN under his command EVER lost their life. Even with just that little bit of information…. that's a real super hero in my book

  2. I know I’m late by a long shot but I wanna say my way of wanting to be a hero so I’m a 10 year old kid and wan’t to save lives and run around at night when I’m an adult who will be called night hawk I will have no cape and kinda look like a robber with a black hoodie and black pants with a ski mask and night vision goggles but I won’t and instead be a crime fighter who breaks drug bust if I find any which will be hard cuz I live in Williston but will fight robbers and other things that are bad

  3. We need more willing and brave enough to step forward to assist authorities in subduing criminals. Dressed up in a superhero outfit always inspire others in various ways, because it gives them hope of something bigger than themselves to look up to.
