While working on the American Strays Project in Detroit, the WA2S Films team came across a scared, filthy, wet stray dog. This matted poodle looking dog appeared to be in peril, not owned, and needed to be rescued.

The World Animal Awareness Society and WA2S Films is not an animal rescue and must rely on the animal rescue community to help address issues with animals in crisis discovered in the city while our teams our working on filming educational initiatives.

Watch what happens when our team finds this dog Sandy on the streets of Detroit and the process to get her the help she truly needed.

First requirement: contact Detroit Animal Care and Control and wait for their people to show – when they don’t, and the system fails, call on the independent dog rescue community in Detroit.

Help the World Animal Awareness Society save thousands of at risk dogs working with dozens of dog rescues around the world. The work never stops, and we need you. Donate and help us help rescuers save more lives! https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=9ZPQCGKA7QXSY

  1. We also need to educate and help people to keep their dogs. I had my dog neutered, microchipped and bought 12!months of Heartguard 271 dollars. Hard for low income people to,afford

  2. The people who let their animals go like this need a kick up the arse and a year in jail! It is a privilege to share their life with an animal, and obviously 90% of people should NEVER own an animal. Animals have so much more respect for people than people have for animals. Such a shame. USA needs to vet people a lot more than they do and make sterilization, microchipping compulsory, along with licensing. Those that have an attitude of getting an animal and NOT allowing it in the house to be part of the family should be BANNED from owning an animal.

  3. Thank you so much for caring, something should change in the way some humans treat these poor innocent animals as crap at the bottom of there shoes. So relieved, that at least this little soul has been saved.

  4. This dog looks exactly like my dog. My dogs hair is as long as this dogs and we literally always have to cut it because it gets to long to the point where he can't see and his long hair gets tangled. It sucks because in order for us to shave his hair we have to take him to the vet and put him to sleep because he's afraid of the groomers because this one time a lady cut and basically abused my dog.
