Hypoxia strikes again
A pilot overcooks the jink, GLOC's, augers into the wall and then it's "We'll fix it…we'll just shut the route down….yes. That'll do it". Had nothing to do with the training route. He was a very experienced, carrier qual'd aviator. It appears he simply missed his mark by a second and ended up going wide. I've flown the three canyon hop many times. Coming out of the "Jedi transition" means you must hit it hard while descending. Miss it by "that much" and bad things happen either due to the timing, or after you realize your mistake and give an extra 1/2" pull on the stick…and end up taking a nap while your aircraft pancakes itself.
No sign of the pilot????? LOL I believe he is in about 2,000 incinerated pieces.

I was planning on a trip to Star Wars Canyon. Now the Feds will chase everyone out of there. Pilot probably stayed with it trying to avoid hitting the rocks and hurting people watching from the cliffs. At 33 years old, I doubt he was a SWC rookie.
