My heart goes out to the people in Japan after this horrible tragedy. But having said that, with the long history of Tsunamis in Japan, the periodic tsunami drills they schedule, having just experienced a 3-4 minute 9.0 earthquake, extremely loud tsunami warning sirens going off and non-stop announcements saying "Tsunami coming"…yet, he had NO IDEA there was a tsunami coming until he saw it? Really?
You might think well there is a lot of stuff in the water to float or climb onto but it is winter and both the air and water are COLD!!! In cold water you wouldn't last long if were clinging to something with your legs/body in the water.

In that guys case if I had been there, I think I would have jumped up on top of that semi truck tank, not stayed in the car. That thing is so heavy it wouldnt float around so easily but in reality it might have been him staying that saved him. Theres no real move when it comes so quick like that.
Most of the ones that sank had windows or doors open or were not made there. But with that kind of pressure it didn"t matter. Even boats did not fare well.
Pure luck his car ended where it did, and also that he lived.
