Tsunami: Caught on Camera – Part 4/8

Spread The Viralist

Christmas Day 2004, and across the Indian Ocean, tourists from around the globe are enjoying dream holidays in the sun. But none of them know that the very next day their video cameras will capture one of the most devastating natural disasters in recorded history, which will leave nearly 300,000 dead in eleven countries.

Five years on, and told almost entirely using amateur footage, much of it never broadcast before, Tsunami: Caught on Camera is the moving true story of the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami told through the eyes of those who were actually there.

Shot by ordinary people across the Tsunami’s huge impact area, the remarkable amateur footage reveals what happened when the waves, caused by a massive underwater earthquake, hit land.

This powerful, bold and intimate film reveals what it was like to be caught up in the events of that day and tells stories of panic and heart-breaking loss, as well as courage and miraculous survival.

  1. You can always count on the Americans to give a little hollywood drama in a situation like this. Everybody was just saying what happened to them like normal people would and then there's the Americans who describe it as if it was a James Cameron movie.

  2. I don.t know why people still keep lookn fuckn tsunami people no sense like Animal I sawy if sse tsunami cum fuckn move the place but they fuckn still keen lookn tsunami

  3. imagine the ancient ppl experiencing natural disasters like this. at least we have some understanding that it is a natural disaster… and even then like many of the survivors have said that it's bizarre. the terror way back then must have been crazy, no wonder we have such amazing stories from everywhere in the world.

  4. The blonde lady was in the hotel. She didn't know it was a tsunami. We automatically think scary things are terrorist attacks in the US because we are conditioned for it, especially in 2005. Fucking government. I don't blame her.

  5. This is also for everyone or anyone who doesn't know what to do when that happens, although I doubt this will save many lives and definately won't get far but it's the best solution for when u don't know if it's a tsunami or not or what to do if it is… So please don't get mad at me for trying to help even the smallest people out' ….one last thing tsunamis rarely happen so yea but just letting everybody kno wassup when water is being pulled off the shore and Wat they can do to prevent death toward them or anyone else

  6. For anyone who lives near a large body of water, whenever u see water being pulled out like that or the tide's just gone so instantly, it is definately a tsunami so please leave whenever that happens or go to the nearest tallest building very quickly, do not hesitate just please move!

  7. Horrific! Just the very thought is terrifying. I don't know how u could eve assess the situation appropriately, let alone survive it, after being blindsided. Then attempting to navigate through the chaos without making a deadly choice. Can't think of a whole hell of a lot of natural disasters that would be much worse than a megatsunami. Hell on Earth

  8. Lol… gotta love how all the locals walking by them where like "Time to go…" while they stood their filming. Even if you somehow know nothing about how waves work… that should have set off alarm bells in your head, I mean come on….

  9. That police ship is still where it washed up at about 2 miles away.Them police boats was in the water cause the Kings daughter or son was there that day

  10. Who stands there when a wave is 20feet high I mean you could do is dipp for your life. Or act like superman or something. No affence to the people who died they could've booked it when the waves stoped coming gosh 2010 people must've been stupid or physically slow.

  11. Ryan Turnauer that's coz the pic you're looking at, is 9 years old. Never mind it ain't your fault and tnx for the concerns buddy. I've updated the present one for you to look. Take care pal.

  12. how the FUCK do those people at the beginning of the video SEE THAT BIG ASS WAVE and they're just chilling?? If it's that far but looks big and it looks so white (agitated), get the fuck outta derrrrr

  13. Just thinking about what all the people that died were thinking or the pain they were in before their death is really sad?

  14. Ok, let's clear this up. The woman said that she thought there was a terrorist attack because she didn't see the waves and she wasn't aware of the tsunami that was coming inland. Moreover, she and her husband heard numerous people screaming and running away, which led her to believe that a terrorist attack was taking place. Stop assuming that she's a dumb American and ignorantly placing labels on ALL Americans because of this woman.

  15. it's my 45th birthday as i sit and watch this. I am crying it is so sad. I am happy to be in my small apartment with my daughter safe and I pray for all of those who went through this awful tragedy <3
