Spread The Viralist

Meet Alexandra of https://www.instagram.com/fastandthefurriest_ who has taken her passion for dog rescue on the road in her 2004 Thor Four Winds Fun Mover! Alexandra not only rescued SIX of her own dogs but helps raise awareness for dog rescues, spay and neuter programs and non-kill shelters while she travels.
She travels full-time as a solo female nomad and today, we’ll learn how she found her rig, how she renovated it, how it is to travel with six pets and how she is helping other RVers rescue and adopt pets while they travel.

  2. Having worked in rescue most of my life, a database of no kill shelters is nearly useless. They are overfull and will usually tell you to take the dog to the city shelter. Sad but true. Private rescue groups will often choose dogs from the city shelter, but they too are overrun. The real solution is for dog "owners" to realize that every puppy (or kitten) your dog gives birth to means that one in the shelter dies. If you want your children to witness the "miracle of birth", get pregnant yourself and bring'em in the birthing room. Better yet, buy a video. If you think your dog is the best dog ever and will give birth to puppies just like her/him… wrong again! Stop being a selfish human and enjoy your pet without exploiting it.

  3. Yes I also have encountered lots of dogs in need of a home.
All of them have made wonderful family members!
I’m currently keeping it down to three.

  4. There is a Fun Mover on EBay right now. Love the garage. I traveled in one across the U.S. we would open the back and sit
And have great views. It has a screen to cover back to keep bugs out. I love her idea about the collars and spreading the word. Thank you for the video.

  5. Just loved this story. I’m a die hard dog lover forever. They all look so happy and content.
Nice young lady and great dogs!!!!
Thanks for what you are doing for the dogs and being to travel too!
    Lucky you!
    Thanks Robin!
Jane and her wacky sidekick Lola, the Boston Terrier

  6. Hope she knows about the van build in Nov hosted by Jamie of Engimatic , after the van build they work on remodels if you want solar I think charge very little the way I understand it 🙂 Great RV too!! 🙂

  7. Im happy to hear that you were able to adopt those sweet babies! They crop the ears when they are planning to fight them. Glad you took him! Ive 4 furbabies and knowing you are traveling with 6 is inspirational. I use to do rescue and hadnt thought about doing it over the road and instagram! Great idea! The problem with putting on a collar is that peole will think that the baby has a home. They will have to look at the collar and tag and im not sure how many would do that. Youre an angel for helping the homeless furbabies!

  8. Interesting! First timer to this channel, and I admire your ability to help out the dogs you love so much. Unfortunately, because of the heart-ache of putting our dog down at 15 years old, we've decided not to have another. Some perhaps can handle it better than others, but we found it to hard on us, so our two daughters have dogs, so we've found enjoying those when over for a visit will do the trick. Oddly though, we where travelling to a specific location (lake) with our daughters and grandkids, and found that it was an added cost of $7.00 per child and $6.00 per dog, per night, which certainly adds up! I'm unsure if this is a new dimension at campsites/resorts/parks, but if so it will certainly make it much more expensive for those of us that like to travel, and with all the associated costs already, it might put the lifestyle out of reach for many! Thanks for the video, much appreciated!

  9. p.s. I didn't hear her comment on how she looks for the owners of a found dog. I know each city or county and state has it's own rules. Here in So CA it's 14 days. You must put up fliers, Notify the local shelters and leave a copy of the flyer and/or post it in their "Found Book" – If you don't want to leave them there. Also check for a chip so they can contact the owner if on is found. Each location/City/Town probably has a local Lost and found Pets site on FB or instagram So I post a copy of the flyer there as well. I also call local vets offices and let them know. I know it's a lot of work but it's so worth it if a distraught owner if found and they are reunited. I lover her idea of the collars as well. I rescued a Great Pyr like hers and he was awesome. I cried when I adopted him out. I love her motley crew of furbabies <3

  10. OMGOSH – Love this. She is living my dream. I looked high and low for one of these but they were too expensive. And I have lost a little bit of nerve to be driving a 30+ footer RV. I just love her heart. I settled on a Ford 150 Econoline with a 19 ft trailer to travel in for now (sold my 21 ft RV) with my 8 rescue dogs. I have been in Rescue a long time but have stepped away from the hands on rescue for now. I still help coordinate and organize with my local, Baja CA and Canadian rescue partners. Sadly I recently lost 1 of my rescue boys due to illness. All of mine are seniors 7 chi's and 1 Rottie boy with an attitude 😉 He is what really makes me feel safer when I was on the road before. So I am looking forward to getting out there again and seeing where my travels take me. Thank you for sharing this.

  11. I was glad to see this wonderful woman have her dogs on a leash outside. As I camp I see people let their dogs run loose in populated campsites especially on Dispersed Lands. I also hear people trying to find their dogs and yelling out their names for hours on end. And that’s why there are a lot of sad stories about people who lose their dogs while camping. Also I have seen dogs fight and be badly injured because people are so careless. Just ask the Driving and Vibeing couple. They told me their dog was attacked by careless camper who let their dog loose. They rushed their dog to the vet and had many stitches but it could have been killed. If you are in a place that’s wide open with no other loose strange dogs or people then I can see playing with them while keeping an eye on them while they run free but not in a populated area. Being a responsible dog mother and father is a big responsibility. I will certainly contribute to this wonderful woman’s quest. Thanks for this interview Robin.

  12. Thanks so much for this video. I'm continuing to look for what rv will be best for me as an artist. I had no clue there were class c toy haulers. So now, a whole new realm to look into. Love Alexandra and her rescue pups!

  13. Really enjoyed this one Robin! I am a dog lover too, well I love all critters. I have three cats too. I would LOVE to do what Alexandra does! She is my hero! I thoroughly enjoyed her!! Thank you for this one. The sad thing is there are so many in shelters that need to get out. Too many are euthanized! Spay neuter programs need to be in place everywhere!!! Thanks again.

  14. I feel better now that there is someone out there, that has 3 mire dogs than i do, doing Van/RV life.. I wanted you to ask her how she keeps the dogs warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I remember her saying that she did not have solar

  15. All 3 of my cats are rescued age 11, 7, 2 Looking to live in van with them. I took care of 50 community/feral cats & cruel ppl in town killed them all after I had gotten more than 1/2 spayed or nuetered.

  16. This was a really cool interview. I have rescued all of my poopers. So this is dear to my heart. Thanks for sharing. I just lost my best friend of 15 years. Rex was a border collie mix and my first rescue. He was the best and I never ever feared traveling alone because he was always with me. He was a kind soul…..but let me tell ya…..if he didn't like someone, I knew immediately this person was no good. Thanks again for this great video.

  17. Please know, Alexandra, that you are thoroughly inspiring! I am following you now on Instagram. What a wonderful interview. Thank you, Robin ???❤️❤️❤️

  18. We bought our first trailer so that our dog and cat could travel with us when we travel in the summer. We go on the road for two months and we bought the trailer so that they would be comfortable and have their home with them.

They both passed away last October and not we have a one year old rescue, pointer retriever mix and we traded in the trailer for an RV, and he loves going in the RV.

    Love watching you.
    Debi

  19. Wonderful interview and video. Love her for putting action to her love for dogs! Thanks for sharing this with us. ?❤️??. Deb

  20. Hello Robin, I am glad you interviewed Alexandria. She is a wounderful person for rescuing Dallas dogs. I know you enjoyed being around them. Love your video, GOD BLESS YOU.???

  21. Awesome interview I would love to hear more of her story of how she takes care of the dogs walking safety in the heat cold what about snakes and all that kind of thing I have four dogs and we often wonder how we would deal with four dogs. And what kind of rig setup would accommodate them the best

  22. Great interview! Love your rig Alexandra! Love what you're doing! Sharing with my niece who also runs a shelter and rescues more than just pups. I think she'll enjoy the interview as well. Thanks Robin! God bless.???❤
