A FACE-OFF between a pack of wild dogs, an antelope and a hippo revealed the ugly side of nature. Filmed at Mala Mala Game Reserve, South Africa, this wild encounter was snapped by quick thinking game ranger Pieter Van Wyk, 31. Not for the faint of heart, the footage gives a gruesome glimpse into the realities of animal life in the wild.

WHY DID I READ ANGRY HIPPO CRUSHED CANTELOPE
I think the hippo was trying to get him out of the mud but doesn’t know his own strength.
Otherwise why would the hippo have protected him from the dogs.

Look at this video. Isn't nature horrible? None of those things cares about the other. Even the hippo is a 100% psycho. And if you think thats bad you should check out the insect kingdom. They've got some real horrors there, let me tell you. It's literally a living nightmare, its only saving grace is that your average insect doesnt have the wit to realise it. I honestly despair about the natural world. Its like when are they gonna move on? They've been doing this kinda thing for hundreds of thousands of years, and you'd think at least some of them would realise its time to evolve to the next level.

Almost looks like a mercy killing by the hippo. The dogs would've ripped the antelope apart while it was still alive, yet it was crushed by the Hippo.
The poor prey was just getting tortured. I know that’s the way life works…. but aww my heart 🙁
