Police are investigating in a village under siege by two wild ‘raccoon dogs’ that are terrorising locals and attacking animals. Officers were called to Clarborough in Nottinghamshire after residents reported being subjected to a two hour stand off with the bizarre-looking creatures. Mandy Marsh (bottom, with her niece Mazey Burton, five), 53, and her husband Dale, 54, were woken at about 4am by a ‘blood curdling scream’ and ran outside. They saw a dog-sized animal (left and right) which they had never seen before in a stand off with their pet goat Betty and pony Peaches. The couple, armed with planks of wood, said it took them two hours to chase off the snarling and hissing animal. But it returned minutes later to corner a dog walker outside their home, before scarpering off.

That's the weirdest place for a Tanuki to be. Either it escaped from a zoo/home or some irresponsible pet own released it realizing it's a wild animal and difficult to handle.

Chupacabra all over again???? Its a Tanuki mostly found in east asia. It escaped the zoo or something.
In Ohio we have Coyotes. They are super smart and kill small or weakened dogs and have been known to work together to take down a deer.
Surely England has suitable habitat to turn these loose into. They can cohabit with the Canadian Timber Wolves and the Pythons etc. that other animal lovers foist on their neighbors.
Maybe if British people weren't such cowards and fought for their second amendment this wouldn't have turned into such an issue. Sad.
