We trapped pregnant feral cats Serenity and Nelia so they could give birth somewhere safe for the last time. In the wild, only 25% of kittens survive due to predators, disease, injury, weather and starvation, which is why it’s so important to spay and neuter. See updates and links below:
UPDATE MAY 5: Dora and Dot, Suri’s remaining two kittens joined Nelia’s crew. Most of the kittens are now eating solid foods, and Suri is very ready to be spayed and return to her forest home where she can feel happy and safe.
UPDATE MAY 3: Bits (Suri’s black tabby boy) joined Nelia’s crew. Suri isn’t enjoying her captivity, so we are hoping to transition her kittens to Nelia now that they are being weaned.
UPDATE APR 22: Feral mama Serenity gave birth for the last time to four beautiful kittens: 1) ginger boy: Clover, 2) black boy: Tulip, 3) tabby girl with dramatic eyeliner: Iris, 4) tuxie girl: Tiarella Ninja. So far, kittens are nursing and appear healthy. All palates have passed inspection. 🙂
UPDATE APR 21: Two of Suri’s kittens (Snap and Dora) joined Nelia’s crew today to see if she will take over their care. (She did, she’s a GREAT mama). Suri is another feral mama from the same colony.
UPDATE APR 3: Nelia gave birth to four beautiful kittens via emergency c-section – Atlas, Rhea, Gaia and Orion. Sadly, on April 7th, we lost little Gaia due to heart failure.
