1. Tesshin Okada

Okada died in a Tokyo hospital on January 6, 2014, 17 days after his professional debut. He is the 38th boxer to die from accidents in matches in Japan

2. Marco Antonio Nazareth

He collapsed in the ring and had to be taken to the local hospital where he underwent a three-hour surgery to treat a cerebral hemorrhage. He died four days later.

3. Karlo Maquinto

Maquinto was rushed to FEU Hospital in Quezon City. Karlo was diagnosed with subdural hematoma (blood clot sustained in his brain) upon his admission to the hospital.[2] Tests showed that a blood clot had developed in his brain as a result of blows received in the first round of the fight. As a result, soon Maquinto went into a coma and died 5 days later in the hospital.

4. Duk Koo Kim

Kim collapsed into a coma, and was removed from the Caesars Palace arena on a stretcher and taken to the Desert Springs Hospital. At the hospital he was found to have a subdural hematoma consisting of 100 cc of blood in his skull. Emergency brain surgery was performed at the hospital to try to save him, but that effort proved to be futile, and Kim died four days after the bout.

5. Óscar González

He fell into an almost immediate coma after the fight and by the time he reached a local hospital, brain death had occurred. On February 3, González was pronounced dead at the age of twenty-three.

6. Randie Carver

He was knocked down in the 10th and tried unsuccessfully 4 times to get to his feet. He then lost consciousness and was rushed to the hospital. Tragically, Carver died 2 days later from blunt head trauma received during the fight

7. Roman Simakov

In 2011 Roman Simakov, fought Kovalev in which he was knocked down in the sixth round and the fight was stopped one round later Kovalev was awarded a TKO victory. Tragically, Simakov was taken to the hospital, where he lapsed into a coma and died three days later.

8. Hamzah Aljahmi

A 19-year-old boxer from Michigan, died on Tuesday after he collapsed following his first professional fight. He was to hospital after undergoing brain surgery where he later died that night.

  1. Many a time matches could be stopped at right time and saved those lives. I have noticed boxers stays off balance after the first hit itself before the series of fatal blows fall on them…Referee seems couldn't anticipate how bad the next moment is going to turn…!! When the single punch that downgrade the alertness followed by going off guard and defenseless and ultimately become prone to face series of hooks, jabs and then goes knock out. So why the referees wait till one goes almost comatose…..! I feel these accidents could be reduced if referees or officials donot load the sense of vengeance and racial overtones in his heart…!!

  4. A professional referee said you should always have a communications with the fighter even they're not hurt that bad

  5. This is a deliberate or almost deliberate killing. Where are human rights? Is human in the West a commodity for entertainment.

  6. Don't hate me for this but amateur boxers use head protection repeated hits to the head is probably what cause these deaths . Maybe pros should be required to use head gear
