The little town of Leshan, with a population of only ~2 million, is a few hours drive from Chengdu, Sichuan, and has the world’s largest Buddha and some of the most tastiest street snacks in China!

In Leshan, the worlds largest buddha is only one of the things you can do. I highly recommend going to the food street beside the main river and trying out these two dishes : 甜皮鸭 Tianpiya, the sweet skinned duck, and a bowl of 豆腐脑 tofu brain. Both were extremely satisfying and worth the drive alone.

The tofu brain cost only 8rmb/ bowl (just over a dollar), and the duck was only 26 RMB for the half duck, around 5 dollars.

  2. See how nice Chinese is. This guy actually speak engdarin but nobody mind there. While chinglish have been blamed everywhere in English speaking world.

  4. the sweet skin duck is the most satisfying smoked duck for me :-), never had a duck more tasty than it and it can be found in Chengdu actually, no need for travelling two hours to Leshan, haha

  5. nice to see my hometown Leshan tianpi duck and Doufunao, tofu nao was my breakfast almost everyday when I was young.My family usually have the tianpi duck as dinner meals particularly during summer time.

  6. that snort noodle are glass noodles made from very healthy mung beans which are little green beans like green one eyed peas and boiled and topped with coconutmilk are very common in south east asia the opposing dish is the red bean soup both very nutrtious and filling available in most dessert stalls in hawkercenters in singapore and the glassnoodlesare often cooked in a claypot with toppings like crab claws called "crab behoon" the signature dish at the sin huat eating house in geylang
