In Penang, Malaysia, the food is the best in Malaysia. Malaysian Food is one of my favourites in Asia due to the diversity of Chinese, Indian, and Malay influence on all of the food, whether the local Malaysian street food in Kuala Lumpur and Penang street food, or whether dining in Mamak stalls like this famous Nasi Kandar joint, you can’t go wrong! Penang food is heavenly!

I was lucky enough to meet up with Kyle Le from Kyleledotnet, we enjoyed our meal together and had a great collaboration, you can check out his channel here:

If you want to come to Penang to eat this mind blowing Malaysian cuisine, I suggest trying Nasi Kandar. It is famous all throughout Malaysia, but here in Penang is the birthplace. Many Nasi Kandar restaurants are open 24 hours long to serve those craving spice at any time of day. Nasi Kandar is rice covered in a huge assortment of your selection of fresh Indian curry, available with chicken, beef, mutton, and many vegetables. We ordered a fish head curry as well!

I really want to come back every year to Georgetown to eat and perhaps learn some Malaysian food recipes. In Pulau Pinang (Penang), t he most famous Nasi Kandar restaurants are Nasi Kandar Line Clear or Nasi Kandar Beratur. I visited Line Clear and quite enjoyed the flavour, but I wanted to try a different place that has less hype and still had something to prove. I found Nasi Kandar Deen Maju, address below:

Nasi Kandar Deen Maju, Jalan Gurdwara (Brick Kiln Road)
Jalan Gurdwara, 10150 Penang, Pulau Pinang

Time: 4pm-11pm

I spent 3 weeks eating Penang food and afterwards I didn’t want to leave. The food here is good enough for a lifetime. You can dine on Indian cuisine, Indian street food, Chinese, and Malay food every day and you will never get bored with the huge variety of food. If you come to Malaysia, you must eat in Penang and Kuala Lumpur, perhaps even take a Penang food tour or Kuala Lumur food tour from a local. The food hunt is a lot of fun here!

I hope this is helpful for you the next time you go to eat Nasi Kandar! Please leave me a comment down below, it helps a lot.

Thanks again for watching this Nasi Kandar food and travel video!
