I had a wonderful evening exploring the Bosphorus and trying a classic Istanbul food known as Balik Ekmek with my local friend. Unfortunately, the sandwich wasn’t actually that delicious, but the scenery was amazing and in a very local spot. Please like: www.facebook.com/foodrangin

After this disappointing sandwich, we went for a walk along the Bosphorus and enjoyed the sunset. If you want to try a better Balik Ekmek, go for the ones near that Galata bridge on the old city side 🙂

  1. There are many delicious street foods in Istanbul unfortunately, this is not one of it. Very fishy mackerel with traces of bones serve in a very dry baguette with no sauce in it. They could have improved on the recipe but l guess they are just too lazy.

  2. LOL it's kinda funny when you actually eat something you don't like Trevor. Plz respond if you're reading this I would love to join you on your next food tour!

  3. congratulations bro ,you ate a norway's mackerel(they are imported from norway to turkey) in istanbul and you were thinking it was a blacksea anchovy :DDdDD

  4. Such a waste of an opportunity to taste a lovely fish sandwich…
    1. It's definitely not an anchovy. Mostly they use mackerel.
    2. Zeynep keeps talking about a "sauce". What sauce, really Zeynep? You never put any sauce into balik-ekmek.
    3. Lettuce simply kills the sandwich. Fish, onion, salt, lemon. That's all you need in it.

They are the worst examples of balik ekmek I have ever seen. And my friend, I have seen a lot… I felt how dry it was even just watching the video!

Trevor, just let me know the next time you visit Istanbul (or London!)
