Hawaii is always a special place to eat for me, because it’s one of the places where I grew to love eating so much. When I was a kid, I would come every now and then to visit relatives in Hawaii and feast upon local Hawaii, Hawaiian food, and a variety of Asian food as well. In this video, we’re going on an ultimate single day local Hawaii food tour.

Joe’s Grill Express – Located not to far from the Honolulu airport, Joe’s Grill Express is an awesome local spot for Hawaii style breakfast. I went with the special loco moco, including hamburger patty, spam, and eggs, all over rice, with mac salad.
Total price – $7.08

Alicia’s Market – One of my all time favorite places to eat in Honolulu is Alicia’s Market. They serve a combination of Hawaiian food and local eats, and plenty of different types of poke. I had some roasted meat and the Hawaiian food plate.
Price – $11.47 (But the owner gave me a bunch of free meat, thank you Chris)

Tamashiro Market – Another long standing icon when it comes to Honolulu food is Tamashiro market, a small seafood market. They have all sorts of fresh seafood you can buy, and they also have a good variety of different poke and prepared seafood.
Total price – $29.59

Waiola Shave Ice – I’ve been going to Waiola shave ice since I was a kid and I still think it’s the best in Hawaii because of its incredible fine soft ice.
Price – $3.75

Itchy Butt – Finally to finish off this Hawaii food tour of Honolulu, we went to a relatively new place, my first time. Some relatives of mine had told me about it, and also every time I drove past, I would see a hungry crowd standing outside at all times. Plus I couldn’t wait to try it due to its name. It was pretty good, although Korean fried chicken tends to be a little sweet for me.
Total price – $24.00

And that completes this Honolulu food tour, hope you enjoyed it and hope this gives you some ideas about what kind of local food to eat when you visit Honolulu, Hawaii!

  1. Hey mark. I am a huge fan of your channel. I just realized much of your food journey is so unique and awsome. Maybe if you could attach a map link to your food destinations so people can really follow the shops……just an idea

  2. Comment 3,447* It`s time for a journey. I've already seen the world, and I prefer to do it virtually now, as overcoming the 3-dimensional sensual world is part of liberation. But this doesn`t mean ascension is the end of the world, it`s just a different kind of experience. I just watched Jeremy Miller´s great experience of Hawaii, and that`s why I clicked here. I expected the sight of delicious and nicely arranged exotic food like in my books, but this is much better! This is adventurous. The radiant look of Mark reminded me of a guy I recently watched rapping New Age lyrics, so religiously ecstatic, it seems like resurrection. It`s the bardo, but he is hardly a hungry ghost, because they have huge bellies like Merkel, lol! Mark is an ascetic telling from his skinniness, and that`s why he enjoys being a food critic, it all tastes great, when you are hungry. His baby understands that this vlog is about food critic. I`m not surprised. Cooking is an art, it`s a job like art criticism, and I could tell right away from this terminology that Mark is an academic. And he is born in Hawaii! Very interesting place not only because of it´s beauty, but also because of it`s sad history of getting taken over by the U.S. The Hawaiians are angry! They would have enjoyed a bit and surely enough of American New World Culture as a flourishing tourist resort as well but with their own sovereignty! Mark ignores the hostility of the sales girl, these multicultural folks are used to do this. I`m going to join the journey of this lovely and interesting family for a while. It will be fun, and there will be  a revelation for me. Btw. I haven`t been shopping for weeks, right now I`m eating little and very boring stuff, but I didn`t even get hungry when I was watching Mark, praising all these exotic food which surely tastes great. Food is a form of the life force (mangiare bene é come fare l´amore), but when you are in love, you can live from air and sunshine, still feeling ecstatic. 3. Love everything you’ve eaten in Honolulu . I just hope we can make it to all these places that you’ve been & tried the different tuna poke, Korean fried chicken. The Loco moco didn’t really appeal to me. But then again, I never had it. So, I might try it on n our family reunion trip in 2021. You were born & raise in Hawaii right? ???

  4. Big fan Mark. I’m from Honolulu and love all you videos. Along with the great food it’s nice to see the many smiles and happiness you bring to the people you meet around the world. Keep spreading your love, friendship, and happiness. Aloha. ??

  5. Mark brah…… my wife says we make the same face when eating…… I don't mind because I know enjoyment when I see it 🙂 keep on brah…. God gave us taste buds for a reason !!!
